Application procedure for 2004 Seminar on music of John Cage

One vision of Musical Observations is to attempt to establish a venue where 20th century music can receive the attention normally provided for classical chamber and orchestral music. To that end, we hold an annual workshop where performers concentrate on one composer of the last (20th) century. This year's composer is John Cage. Participants rehearse, study and receive coaching on one or two pieces, six days a week, for up to six hours a day. There may be (dependent upon quality) a performance at St. Peter's Church on August 26th.

There is no tuition for the seminar, but housing, board, and travel is at the expense of participants. Application is open to instrumentalists and singers.

Please send a resume and audition CD (only) with one 20th century, and one classical (pre-1920) composition, totaling no more than 15 minutes in length. Cassette/DAT tapes will not be accepted.

Deadline for receipt: March 1, 2004
